NPI's VoIP (Voice-over-IP) assessment services focus on either determining whether an existing data network is ready to deliver quality VoIP calls in its current configuration, or, determining the source of anomalies causing your existing VoIP deployment to perform in a less than acceptable manner.

Managing the quality of delivering data packets, whether the data packets contain voice or ordinary data, can be an extremely complex and challenging task today.  The management process requires predictability in the delivery of packets and is frequently adversely impacted by:

• lack of bandwidth management practices
• latency and jitter
• network congestion
• defective and/or misconfigured network devices
• other technical limitations

NPI's VoIP assessment service is tailored to each client's specific needs and frequently involves the following tasks:

• Network discovery of key infrastructure components (e.g., servers, firewalls, routers, switches)
• Performance assessment of existing infrastructure assets
• Analysis of congestion, data loss, latency and jitter
• Analysis of any existing Quality of Service (QoS) implementations, Frame Relay operations, and other specific technologies in use within each client's infrastructure
• Detailed report summarizing our findings and recommended corrective actions
• On-the-job training of existing support personnel in your environment

NPI can also deploy limited quantities of temporary VoIP devices to validate service levels and demonstrate how each of our findings impact the quality of actual VoIP conversations in your  environment.  The demonstration provides non-technical management with the understanding needed to support the technical VoIP requirements.
